As a photographer, Johanna’s primary focus is landscapes with a special interest in Arizona’s Saguaros. Johanna’s Saguaro Series follows the decay process and highlights the natural transition and acceptance of death. Other works include a variety of alternative processes such as Cyanotypes, Van Dyke, Albumen and Platinum prints. If you ask Johanna, working with alternative processes allow each photograph to be a one of a kind art piece due to the many variables involved with creating that specific photograph.
For the past few years, Johanna has dedicated her time to merging her love of landscapes with alternative processing. Studying under Mark Klett and Binh Danh at Arizona State University allowed her to develop her artistic vision. With the knowledge she has gained, Johanna continues to work on truly demonstrating her artist hand, which is one of the most fulfilling forms of expression in her photography.
