Johanna Virgil was born in Costa Rica and raised in Tempe, Arizona. She is a proud veteran of the U.S Army, who upon finishing her enlistment returned to Arizona. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography at the Herberger Art Institute at Arizona State University. Living in the Phoenix area allows Johanna to actively take advantage of the beautiful desert landscape, which she enjoys hiking regularly. Her appreciation for nature is greatly due to being raised by a Swiss father and a Costa Rican mother. Johanna’s childhood summers were spent alternating between Switzerland and Costa Rica. It was these experiences that nurtured her passion for the outdoors.
